Rare and Beautiful Aviculture

Do you love beautiful birds? Greenlands Farm is where to find beautiful additions to your flock. We focus on rare and beautiful birds, all hand raised in pleasant habitats and loved by our family on our 16 acre homestead “hobby” farm.

Our breeds are selected not only for beauty, but for personality and disposition to ensure an enjoyable experience with your feathery friends. We aim for good genetics and aspire for SOP of all our breeds, but can not promise that you will get an SOP bird if hatching or purchasing young birds. Although we are constantly working on our flocks to improve them, there’s no guarantee of quality before grown out.

Ordering Limit

Important: Please only select one listing per breed. If you would like more that what we have listed, please contact us to see if we are able to fulfill. We are a hobby farm and generally don’t have large flocks, but sometimes our layers produce more during certain seasons.

Greenlands Farm Grading System for Live Birds

Utility Breeder Quality (UBQ): Appropriate to enjoy for general home and farm use - pets, eggs, meat. Our hatching eggs should be considered UBQ as we can not guarantee the quality of your hatches.

Show Breeder Quality (SBQ): These are not show birds themselves, but they have the genetics and characteristics that should allow them to produce some show quality offspring. We hand select live birds for this category who show potential from chick to adult ages.

Not rated (NR): Some of our breeds are not recognized by the APA and/or there’s no APA SOP for this breed or they can not be rated at a particular age of purchase - therefore we are unable to rate them. If you do not see “UBQ” or “SBQ” listed, these are NR.

Greenlands Farm is a member of the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP).
Our NPIP status is U.S. Pollorum-Typhoid Clean, AI Clean, and Salmonella Monitored.

Malines Hen

Malines Hen

Malines

The Malines is a massive bird, among the heaviest of all chicken breeds. The Malines is reared mainly for its meat, which is fine, pale, and close-textured. Hens lay about 140–160 tinted eggs per year, with a weight of about 65 g (extra large!). They are good mothers and excellent sitters. This is one of my favorite breeds we raise as the hens are very gentle and loving.

Splash Bearded Silkie Hen

Bearded Silkie

If you're looking for a friendly, chatty, sweet-natured breed as a first chicken for your children or a companion for yourself, then the Bearded Silkie is for you. Silkies are well known for their calm, friendly temperament. It is among the most docile of poultry.

Grey (Mallard) Indian Runner Drake & Hens

Grey (Mallard) Indian Runner Drake & Hens

Grey Mallard Indian Runner Duck

Indian Runners have tons of personality. They stand erect like penguins and, rather than waddling, they run. Runner ducks are prolific layers and good strains will lay in excess of 250 eggs a year. They are active foragers, seeking out snails, slugs, insects, and other goodies. They are happier spending most of their time foraging for food than being on water. Indian Runners are hardy birds with a timid nature but trainable as companions.

Jumbo Pearl Guinea

Jumbo Pearl Guinea

Jumbo Pearl Guinea Fowl

The Jumbo Guinea has coloration similar to the Pearl Gray but about 30% larger. They are a larger version of pearl grays. Butcher at 16-18 weeks. Produced for meat. Guinea like to dine on insects, rodents, snakes & ticks. Adult weight: 4 -7 lbs. Prolific layers of small eggs that are quite delicious. They’re large like the French Hybrids, but will mate naturally and do not have to be artificially inseminated to get fertility.

Young Black Shoulder Peafowl

Young Black Shoulder Peafowl

Indian Blue & Black Shoulder Peafowl

Peafowl are beautiful birds that can make a stunning addition to your yard, but be prepared to give these birds the care that they need. They are fun and festive to have around, but it is important to educate yourself about their health and habits before keeping peacocks as pets. The blue peafowl generally makes the best pet, as it is more adaptable, tamer, and less aggressive than other types.

Tom and Hens Heritage Midget White Turkey

Heritage Midget White Turkey Tom & Hens

Heritage Midget White Turkey

These may look like a Broad Breasted commercial turkey, but don’t let pictures fool you! The average size of these guys are around 8-13 pounds, making them the perfect any time meal of turkey cooked however you like! We know they were created to be a dinner, but boy do we just love having them as pets. They are personable and friendly, great at snuggling.

English Orpingtons

We are no longer offering English Orpingtons, please contact Marlaina Carmichael at Orpington Farmhouse Acres (Facebook Link). She is a wonderful breeder of English Orpingtons and now has our flocks.
